Operation Lead, a strong support for the team
This is an interview conducted to promote the work of the Corca Operation Team.
Sunyoung Kim (HR Manager) and Minchae Kim (Product Manager) asked questions, and Jingyu Kim (Operation Lead) answered.
- What is the atmosphere and culture of the Corca Operation Team?
- What does the Operation Lead do and what concerns do they have?
- What is the shape of Corca that Operation Lead dreams of?
Q. Please introduce yourself!
Hello! My name is Jin-gyu Kim, the operations team lead, and I am in charge of the Corca Generation X image. He has about 20 years of experience in management support and has diverse experience in management support in the IT industry, including finance, taxation, business planning, general affairs, human resources, legal affairs, company management, and public disclosure. He is a fighting man with a passionate heart and cool head who aims for a cool head!

Q. Please tell us about what you do at Corca!
I am the lead of the operations team, working in management support, and catching up on various tasks of various operations teams, including finance, human resources, legal affairs, and general affairs. Above allWe strive to help Corca team members focus more on their work and live a satisfying Corca life.I'm doing it. Also, although this is my first time coming to Corca, I am planning and preparing to find out what kind of government support projects are available and how to receive them.
Did you have any difficulties as this was your first time doing this?
There isn't a lot of information, so I think it's a process of gaining experience by doing many things. I'm trying a lot, and I'm also referring to many of the things that Jiyoung (Operating Manager), who is currently on childcare leave, summarized.
Q. What capabilities or mindset do you think you need to do your job well as Corca’s Operation Lead?
This is a very difficult question to answer because the standard for ‘doing a good job’ can be subjective. In some ways, the operations team’s work may seem like very routine work, but it is not.Ability to consistently perform routine tasksI think so. Routine work needs to be improved so that less work resources are required and time can be shortened. AlsoAn alert mind is needed to improve according to the changing environment. It is judged that it is. Since the operations team work is the work that team members can feel the most about, I think we need to develop it through communication with team members.Within the operations team, we continuously consider ways to bring out the capabilities of team members.I'm doing it.

Q. When do you feel the fun and reward of work? Conversely, when is work difficult and difficult?
I feel most rewarded when the systems or events prepared by the operations team receive a great response from team members. Due to the nature of the operations team's work, there are many tasks that are not noticeable if done well, but are highly noticeable if done poorly. I think of it as a job like a swan floating on a lake. Still, if it passes without any trouble, I feel like I've done it quietly today as well.
On the other hand, in difficult times, it is difficult when internal or external customers think alone and take arbitrary actions. If any of the team members have any concerns or questions, please don't think about it alone and just ask. We are always ready to answer, so please feel free to ask!
Q. What was the area where you grew the most while working as an operations team lead at Corca?
Previously, I had a style of doing work within a framework. I thought it could only be done after the environment and other things were ready. I think I have now learned how to work within a constrained environment and limitations. I am giving up what I need to give up and thinking about ways to work well in a limited environment. In the past, giving in was one of the things I was not good at, but I think this is also a sign of growth.
I was going to exclude questions about growth, but Jin-gyu came to Corca and asked me to ask questions about growing, so I thought there is no end to growth!
Q. What topic does Corca’s operations team talk about most often these days?
The topic we talk about often seems to change from time to time, but recently it was checking breakfast emojis. When breakfast was provided to members, they checked whether or not they received it. Unfortunately, I think this part was not followed well in the beginning. In some ways, it may be a simple and easy thing to do, but it is not followed well. This is my personal opinion, but I think that these simple promises must be kept well so that bigger promises can be kept well! Overall, I think of the story that rights and duties go hand in hand, and that freedom also comes with responsibility. I would like to say thank you once again because this problem was solved by my buddy, Dong-Hoon (Backend Engineer), who created a Slack notification function.
I was considering various options because the check that started with the intention of not leaving food behind didn't go well, but I thought it was so great that they made it exactly as they said! It was great that work resources were reduced and that all team members, rather than just the operations team, thought about this and made it work!
Q. What was the most impressive scene or episode while working at Corca?
I remember onboarding the most. I was so shocked that when Sunyoung (HR Manager) sent an email informing me of joining the company, she delivered congratulatory messages from team members. I didn't know who I was yet, but I received so many welcoming messages that it was an event that made me even more excited before joining the company.
They sent it to me when I joined the company, and I remember being excited even before joining the company because I felt like the company was really waiting for me haha.
Q. What do you think are the strengths of the current Corca team?
I have worked for about 7 companies so far, and it seems like all of Corca's members have pure and kind hearts. Its capabilities seem to have been verified by ranking 7th in the world (1st in Korea) in the ACM RecSys Challenge 2023 recommender system competition, and the talented and good members are considered to be the biggest advantage that the Corca team has. Above allCorca's great advantage is its infinite potential, with no way of knowing how it will grow further.I think so!
I think this is something all team members feel, so much so that in the semi-annual employee environmental satisfaction survey, the overwhelming majority of respondents said that the advantage of Corca is being a good team member!

Q. Jingyu, what does Corca look like a year from now?
I think that in a year, Corca will have grown and developed further both internally and externally. Even at the recent pit stopI have expectations that we will grow well as we see the ability of our team members to look back on the past and think of ways to move forward. This has gone up even further. I think that in a year, our company will have scaled up a little more, our members will have grown further, and we will have grown internally and externally. Of course, our operations team will be of great help so that team members can show off their capabilities to the fullest!
Thank you so much, Jingyu! Just your words are so powerful and reassuring!
Q. What goals does Jin-gyu want to achieve at Corca in the future?
In the short term, our short-term goal is to further build up the trust that is still lacking. Maybe it's because I'm approaching 8 months since joining the company, but I don't think I've fully developed a trusting relationship with the members yet. I also think that my efforts may not be enough. This is a goal I want to work on more. The long-term goal is to be ready for an IPO if we do it. When I was in charge of public disclosure at the listed company I previously worked at, the IPO had already ended. My personal goal is to experience the entire IPO process from start to finish at Corca.
Q. What kind of influence do you want to have at Corca in the future?
I have a variety of work experience in management support, but I think one of my competencies is having worked in society for nearly 20 years. I think it was quite intense and I worked hard. Start your social life nowA person who conveys good influence to Leka team members to help them a little more.I want to become this. And above allA great help to Corca's growthI hope this happens. I will also work hard.
Q. Who do you expect to join the Corca Operation Team as a colleague?
Due to the nature of the operations team's work, there are many tasks where mistakes cannot be made, so I would like someone with a meticulous personality and a proactive attitude. Lastly, I would like someone with good communication skills to join us. I think the operations team needs this aspect.
Q. Is there anything you would like to say to prospective applicants for the Corca Operations Team?
We hope that many prospective applicants with a warm heart and cool head will apply to the Operations Team. We are looking for applicants who will work with freedom and responsibility!
This was an interview with Jin-gyu, who has been a strong supporter of the Corca team! You are supporting the operations team's various tasks. Thank you for the interview while you are busy!
