Q. Please introduce yourself!

Hello, my name is Yerin Kim and I work as a Growth Marketer on the Moonlight team!

Christmas in Vienna

Q. Please tell us about what you do at Corca!

I am in charge of Moonlight’s overall marketing. As a growth marketer, I broadly deal with the AARRR funnel, which is commonly referred to as a growth marketer, and carry out various marketing activities for the growth of Moonlight, from user inflow to activation and retention.

What is AARRR?

AARRR is a concept that organizes the entire process, starting from product awareness, through activation, retention, profit, and finally friend recommendation, into one funnel.

So at each stage of this funnel ISee where the problem is and find a way to solve the problem through marketingI'm doing what I'm doing.

Q. Did you encounter any difficulties while joining Corca as its first Growth Marketer?

It was difficult because some parts of the system were not yet in place. I thought I would be good at it because I thought I liked planning and building things up on my own, but the process of building things from zero, one by one, turned out to be not as easy as I thought.

Fortunately, my team members helped me a lot. In the process, I realized that the role of a growth marketer is not a person solely responsible for marketing, but rather a member of a growth team with developers and designers, each with their own role.

While having coffee chat again, something I saw before came to mind. The story was that even if the company does not have a CEO, an employee of a competitor in the building next door can also become a CEO. So, I think I relieved a lot of my frustration by having coffee chats with various team members regarding marketing.

AdditionallyAI is also a good teacher for meThis is being done. Before coming to the company, I had barely used AI, but Corca actively supports the use of AI at the company level, so I naturally started using AI a lot while working. In the process, I am receiving great help in quickly organizing issues I was worrying about or finding direction.

Q. What capabilities or mindset do you think you need to do a good job as a Growth Marketer at Corca?

This is something I have been working on since joining the company, butConfidence is the most importantI think it does. I feel that marketing is close to expressing the value of a product and telling a story. Selling it well is important, but it is just as important.I need the power to make my team listen to my story and persuade them.I think it does.

Especially as I was working in my first position, I felt that it was important to have the mindset that my opinion could become a standard and the confidence that comes with it. These aspects seem to be essential to working as a Growth Marketer.

Q. When do you feel the fun and reward of work? Conversely, when is work difficult and difficult?

When you feel fun and rewarded from workThe process of defining a problem and finding a breakthroughI think it is. For example, Moonlight is trying both top-down and bottom-up approaches to connect with schools, and in the process,How can we create demand for our products?I thought about it a lot.

As a result, we were able to approach the student council first through a bottom-up approach, and with better results than expected, we were able to hold a large number of related partnership events. like thisWhen you find a new way to solve a problemI think I had the most fun.

Another fun part wasThe process of thinking about how to approach usersIt was. Recently, as the number of overseas users has increased, we have attempted to approach the overseas community called Reddit. We conducted media research, analyzed the characteristics of community users, and ran advertisements. Among them, there was a material that had a higher click-through rate than expected, and I felt that this process of strategic research and digging suited my aptitude well.

The recent university partnership challenge received great participation. I’m curious what results and insights you gained through this challenge. Are there any challenges you have planned next?

Speaking of achievements, we didn't expect sales, and I think the biggest achievement was that 2,700 users learned about Moonlight.

In addition to those who applied, I think it was a good campaign in that Moonlight was exposed to more than 2,700 people through various media outlets, including Everytime, and was able to secure a certain level of awareness.

Through my insights, I realized that Moonlight is actually helpful to students and that it is a product that people are using because they need it.

I think Moonlight is a product that is somewhat influenced by the March semester season, so I'm thinking about holding an event before the start of the semester.

In particular, looking at existing data, the activity and retention tend to be higher in cases where users are invited through friend invitations than when they are not. So, I'm thinking that we could plan an event in the lab or by inviting friends from school.

Based on the experience gained through this university partnership challenge, we also believe that Moonlight could be a starting point to try a fun and larger-scale event.

Coming soon😉

Q. What was the area where you grew the most while working as a Growth Marketer at Corca?

Where do you feel you have grown the most?data literacyI think it is. It means the ability to see and understand data, and I think it is now an essential competency for marketers. Before I joined the company, I thought it was important to look at a lot of numbers and produce a lot of performance, but now IRather than being buried in numbers, how do we understand the data and move on to the next action?I started thinking more about it. I felt that perspective was really important.

The team holds a growth meeting every Friday, and we have a culture where what we will do next is more important than what the experiment results were. I think I naturally learned a lot of perspectives in that environment.

Another is the process of establishing OKRs and creating action items. Unless a marketer is a content marketer, rather than being explained by one special skill,I believe that the process of setting goals and building up reflections itself becomes professionalism.Because they do. The company also often holds retrospectives and lesson runs, so I feel like I'm growing a lot in those areas.

Q. What topic does Korka's Moonlight team talk about most often these days?

These days, the team often talks about ‘10x sales’**. In fact, rather than an immediate realistic goal in itself, I think it's closer to a mindset of working hard towards the ideal since it has already been talked about.

In the story that Gyeongtaek (Product Engineer) shared after reading the book, he said that it is important to have OKRs that are reachable and OKRs that seem unattainable. From that perspective, I feel that the team now has a goal that provides direction.

Q. What was the most impressive scene or episode while working at Corca?

My most memorable experience was on the second day after joining the company. I wrote down a lot of questions about Moonlight before going to work, but I couldn't answer them all. I was also worried about what if my opinion was wrong and what if it seemed shallow.

At that time, Seungyoon (Product Engineer) looked at the questions I wrote down and said, “Why aren’t you asking all the questions?” At that moment, I thought, Wow, this is a really good team. I got the impression that they were nice people and a good team in that they didn't bother to bring many questions and had a welcoming atmosphere.

Q. What does Yerin imagine Corca will look like a year from now?

I think we will become a company that can grow products at all stages from 0 to 1 to 1 to 100.

We have already experienced the 0 to 1 product, and I think Moonlight is also well on its way to the 1 to 100 stage. So, even if a new product incorporating LLM is released in the future, I expect that we will become a company that can skillfully grow and develop that product.

Q. How do you want to grow at Corca in the future, Yerin?

The first isA marketer who can actually implement and demonstrate what he imagines.I want to become. It also means that I want to become a marketer who utilizes AI well. For example, I want to be someone who can create what a marketer imagines during the planning and selling process, such as creating a marketing page or video using Claude code, and show it as an actual result. In the process, I think I will be able to benefit more from Corca, an AI company, and I want to grow in that environment.

The second isMarketer with a good understanding of UXI want to become. I think a marketer is a job that studies products and values, but in the past, I think I was too interested only in brands. Now, I feel like I need to study more about the internal value of the product, and since Moonlight is a product that deals with researcher UX, I am also studying a lot of other researcher UX. Through that process, I think my perspective has broadened significantly as I have come to understand various occupations.

Q. What kind of influence do you want to have at Corca in the future?

**I want to hear the words, “A person who is ready for everything even without saying anything.”** When an idea or problem arises, I want to be someone who is naturally prepared from plan A to plan B, and who makes people feel like, “Oh, I have a plan.”

Q. Who do you expect to join the Corca Moonlight Team as a colleague?

The first isA person who wants to try everythingThis is it. If such people come, I think they will fit well with the team. The second isA person who does not see failure only as a resultThis is it. I think that people who accept failure positively and can move forward based on that experience take on many challenges and gain a lot from growth.

Thank you very much for agreeing to the interview despite your busy schedule. As Corca's first growth marketer, Yerin is thinking about and creating the growth of Moonlight. We look forward to and support you in your future journey 😊
